Nr 93633 Vigne Rada Riviera Cannonau di Sardegna 2019 - 199kr

Grape: 100% Cannonau, (Grenache).

A banker by trade, Luigi “Gino” Bardino long entertained a dream of exiting the stagnant office environment and devoting his life to wine, his true passion. After years of studying enology in his spare time and numerous experimental vinifications in his Alghero home, Gino finally quit his desk job to follow his heart’s desire. With the support of his family, he planted his own vineyards and built a small winery 2006, and in 2012 Vigne Rada saw its first harvest.

Gino chose only traditional grape varieties to the region, planting one hectare each year between two distinct terroirs. Monte Pedrosu, where the winery is located, features alluvial soils with abundant riverbed stones and quartz, while the sloping Cubalciada site is home to clay, limestone, and some chalk. Farming is sustainable, by hand, with help from the whole family.

Vigne Rada’s Cannonau emphasizes freshness over extraction, showcasing a lovely purity of fruit and caressing texture on the palate.

The taste journey offers pomelo, blood orange, cedar, sage and persistent structure.

Pale ruby in colour, tart berry aromas of pomegranate and cranberry, full and tart with firm tannins and refreshing fruit acidity in a finish that is soft, elegant and sunny with a light balsamic note.

Vinification:

Grapes are de-stemmed and lightly crushed

Fermentation in stainless steel tank lasts 15-25 days, regular pumpovers

70% of wine ages in stainless steel tank for 10 months, 30% ages in 225L and 500l oak tonneaux (no new oak) for 3 - 4 months and is then blended with the stainless-steel tank until bottling in the fall

Wine is bottled 1 year after harvest

Like the man behind them, the wines of Vigne Rada are honest and straightforward—the result of a skilled artisan’s genuine passion for his craft. They deliciously reflect the coastal beauty of Alghero, and we are thrilled to offer them for the first time in Sweden.

Grape: 100% Torontel (Torrontes).

Color: Yellow-orange color.

Fragrance:

Nuanced, slightly spicy aroma with hints of apricot, mimosa flowers, peach, white pepper, honey and orange peel.

Taste description:

Nuanced, slightly spicy taste with a little roughness, hints of dried apricots, mimosa flowers, peach, cumin, honey and orange peel.

The Maturana brothers lost their family home and vineyards in the 2010 earthquake. As a result they changed their business to focus on small-batch artisan wines, such as this Naranjo made from a 4ha plot of 80-year-old Torontel vines grown in alluvial and loamy soil in Loncomilla, a subregion of Chile’s Maule Valley named after a river of that name. Fermented on skins in concrete eggs, it's intensely aromatic, with peach, apricot, lychee and orange peel leaping out of the glass. The textured palate is more restrained with subtle stone fruit, orange and lemon citrus, sprinkled with spice, plus good cleansing acidity and a crisp, juicy finish. A perfect orange wine for people who say they don't like orange wine...

It is a wine made with grapes of the Torontel variety planted in free standing at the beginning of the year 1935, these are selected and harvested by hand and no synthetic chemicals are used in the vineyard. Our Naranjo is vinified with the ORANGE WINES method and is in contact with the grape skins for approximately 9 months, in concrete eggs.

Which allow a certain amount of oxygen ingress to soften the tannins and add complexity to the flavours and also tend to enhance the texture of the wine through the movement of the lees. The 13.5% alcohol is in harmony with all the other components of this distinctive wine.

Served at 10-12 ° C with vegetarian, tasty fish dishes, light meat dishes or just on it´s own.

Chosen as the Best Orange Wine in Chile for 5 consecutive years in Descorchados Guide – Patricio Tapia with 95 Points.
